Vortt Exploration was formed by H. Carl Vandervoort Jr., and has drilled over 400 wells throughout Texas, Louisiana and Utah. A privately held exploration and production company, Vortt has successfully conducted petroleum operations since 1973. Vortt Exploration business activities currently focus on oil and gas production with projects in Utah, Louisiana, and Texas.

The mission of Vortt Exploration is to be a growth-oriented and environmentally sensitive entity that is respected for the quality and competency of its people, the efficiency and scope of its operations and its rich heritage of honesty and integrity.

Vortt Exploration's first important success was achieved with the company's discovery of Fort Trinidad Field of Houston County. This discovery was considered important not because of its size, but it helped encourage other discoveries all around the country including Serendipity Strawn Field of Young County, Mineral Wells South Strawn (A-H) Fields of Palo Pinto County, Big Barnett Field in Rusk County, Vermillion Field of Jackson Parrish, LA, and Indian Creek Federal Units of Emery County, UT.
